This is an extremely rare RI bottle from a very successful 1800's bottling family. This example, along with six others, was found in a construction site in Newport, RI. The area was being prepared for use as a parking lot and the collectors who found them only had one evening to explore. The ground had been scraped down and levelled, exposing many pieces of glass. Other bottles were found but these caused the most excitement as they weren't known to exist. The following day the area was paved over. No other examples of this soda have ever been reported. All known examples are in dug condition with minor scrapes and wear. Most still have the ball closure in the neck. All reside in private collections. |
