ELECTIONS
Elections will take place at April's meeting. As you know we will be in need of a treasurer. Arthur and Rob would both like to give someone else a chance at being President and Vice President. Arthur has expressed that he wouldn't mind being the Treasurer, but the President cannot be the Treasurer. Also, the Board of Directors will be needed. After elections, the Board will have a meeting and talk about upcoming activities.
PROGRAM FOR APRIL'S MEETING
The topic for show and tell will be "SPRING ASSOCIATED BOTTLES". Bottles with flowers, bunnies, spring related things. I have my own ideas of what I'll be bringing.

MARCH MEETING by Pam Pawlowski
We had a good crowd! (Shoot, I was hoping to have the Egg Rolls all to myself!) It was great to see Nick Rossi again at the meeting. Welcome back Nick! Josie and Bill also were able to be there, after not being able to attend a few meetings. The meeting was short and sweet so that Bill Ladd could have time to talk about his adventures in England. Unfortunately, he was unable to bring his finds home. There is a condition when digging in England, which I don't know anyone who would have a problem with. The archaeologist, want your finds, but only to document them. They send them all back to you. The government also insures the finds, so if you don't get them back, you will received the insurance money, which Bill seemed to be quite happy about the amount.
Bill brought in a few of his, antique metal detectors, as he has been doing this since he was 8. Because he field tests the metal detectors for Fisher, they send them to him for free. He then writes his opinion of the workings, and findings of each, for the advertisements and magazine articles. Bill also gives presentations at schools and teaches the kids about the history of the finds. He has received some great letters from the children in the classes.
Fisher, knowing he gives presentations at schools, sent him some early photos from their archives, of the founder of the company, holding what was his first metal detector. Made of wood, it looked like a sifter, (in my opinion) like the archaeologists use, and it looked like you had to step into it and pull it up to your waist. Mr. Fisher was wearing large headphones with the long cord going to the box. When you were standing, you would hold it with each hand on either side of you, and it stretched out in front of you and behind you, a couple of feet maybe! It looked bizarre!

"BULLY FOR LITTLE RHODY": JANUARY'S SHOW INFO by Matt King
If you did not make the Little Rhody Bottle show this year, you have our sympathy. It was a well run show with generous offering of quality merchandise. Maybe the club is just plain getting better at this, but it seemed to go off without a hitch and I saw satisfied collectors and dealers everywhere I looked. Another feather in the cap of The Little Rhody Bottle Club!!!
In such uncertain times, I think success speaks for the seriousness of bottle collecting in general and also the soundness of our club. People take bottle collecting seriously! And why not, stocks are tanking and I made more money on my paper route when I was 8 than my CD's are paying. Bottles have proven to be a fantastic investment over time. I think people are beginning to realize this and, although the hobby is absolutely more about passion than finance, people are taking their collecting more seriously. And like I said, 'Why not?' Almost every time I ever cringed and squirmed to buy a piece I felt I was paying too much for, it ended out to be the winner. I don't think the S + P can say that these days. So go to a bottle show and treat yourself to an investment.
Here are some of the highlights of the show:
BEST BOTTLE OF THE SHOW- JEFF NORDSEY'S PLUM COLORED WASHINGTON FLASK. OUTRAGOUSLY GOOD!! $9500.00
DAN BALDWIN (& FATHER)- RARE OFFERING OF COLORED PONTIL MEDICINE BOTTLES.
ART & PAM PAWLOWSKI- GOOD CLEAN DISPLAY-A QUALITY GENERAL OFFERING.
CHRIS WOODS- JOHN BRANDT- ALWAYS A GOOD SELECTION OF QUALITY BOTTLES.
DONATIONS
There were 2 donations voted in favor of this month, the first being our yearly donation to the National Bottle Museum. Our club donates $100 a year to the museum.
Rob Fahey and Arthur brought to the floor to make a donation to The Station Fire Victim's Fund of $1000. Rob said it will be the best thing the club has ever done with it's money, and we all will feel wonderful knowing we, as a club, could help in this way. There were 99 People who perished in that fire, and many more will need months if not years of physical therapy, and skin graphs to recover. Each and every one of us, knew someone affected by this fire, and if we didn't know them when it happened, we learned about all of the victims as the days went on.
It was a unanimous vote to make a donation to "The Station Fire Victim's Fund", The United Way of $1000.

THANK YOU
by Pam Pawlowski
I would like to thank the club for the flowers and card I received after having my surgery. On February 20, I had a total hip replacement. When I woke up from surgery, the TV was on and the Station fire story was all over the news. The pain I was having, which was excruciating, I thought, seemed insignificant to what the people were feeling that survived the fire. It just goes to show, how good you may have it, even at the worst of times. Pam Pawlowski
Thank you also to Mai, Rob's girlfriend, for bringing in her wonderful, homemade Egg Rolls, they were a big hit! Very delicious!
REFRESHMENTS
I would like to ask if the members if they would like to bring items in for refreshment time you are more than welcome. We used to ask at the end of each meeting, if anyone would like to bring something for the next month's meeting. So every month someone or more than one person would bring in a snack. It would be nice to get back to doing that. I was unable to bake after surgery, so if Mai wasn't able to bring the egg rolls there would have been nothing but coffee.
