Club News

Resident Slacker
Not that I think that there are many people out there who actually read this drivel but for those of you who actually do I apologize for not getting a November newsletter out to you. I just lost all track of time. I guess that's what happens when you become a grandpa. Jeez, now I'm in the same category as my own father and grandfather? The hair in my ears is starting to grow long, my wife says I'm starting to get that old man smell, the AARP won't stop bugging me, I keep getting coupons in the mail for Depends, and I have recently developed a fetish for plaid pants. Please, someone kill me now.

October meeting by Pam Pawlowski
The program for the night was a two topic extravaganza, "Old Maps" and "Rumford Items". Ed Greer had worked for the state and had some books of old maps. They were the size of the ones we find one at a time. A really nice collection showing townships from years ago.
We all had one of those common Rumford bottles. Now, Dave Andrews, who had told me he had sold most of his Rumford stuff, still had enough left to give a really good mini show and tell presentation. Great Rumford items! You know those typical Rumford bottles with the cathedral type patterns on them? He had four different colors of them displayed on a light box. It was exquisite to see them all together. One of them was a really weird blue that he got at the Chelmsford show. A really rare find! He also had one in aqua!

The Christmas Party by Pam Pawlowski
This will be totally on the club this time. We will meet at the Hong Kong Buffet, 1776 Cranston St. in Cranston on Tuesday, December 11th at 6:30. Dave said this place is really clean and also has some American food. The club will pay for a member and one guest that is seated in the designated area set aside for the club. (We were supposed to give the restaurant a head count by November 20th so it might be too late to put your name in when you read this. You can contact Pam at 401-647-3585 and find out if they can squeeze you in. Sorry. Dave)

2002 Show
It looks like we're all sold out for the show in January. If you didn't reserve a table then you're out of luck, and if you did reserve but haven't paid, please get your money in immediately.
There are several changes this years, one being a two table limit per dealer. Naturally there were several complaints from dealers who wanted three tables but the idea was to allow some new dealers space and get a few new faces mixed in.
Another change is adopting an early entry policy. This has been a real sore spot within the club for years but it has finally become a reality. We were one of the few shows around who didn't allow early entry but that will change in 2002. I really don't know how many people will take advantage of this as the rate for the privilege to get in before the masses is $15 per person.
