A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
HI EVERYONE,
The year is nearing the end, and the holidays and parties are approaching very rapidly. This month we have Thanksgiving and most of us are already making plans or giving it thought. Next month I would like to have both are meeting and our Annual Club Christmas Party on December 10th at 7pm at the Royal Buffet in Cranston. Our January meeting will be after the bottle show, so we really need to meet in December to make our last minute plans for the show.. The Club requires a team effort to have a quality show that we can all be a part of and be proud of. At this point, we may or may not have enough volunteers. Please contact me if you would like to be a part of our volunteer team for the bottle show.
Currently the show has 32 tables paid for, with confirmations mailed out. I expect to receive payment for another four with in the next 7 days. This leaves only 4 single tables left. Please do NOT assume you have a table! If I have not received your contract and check. There is limited dealer space!!
Happy Holidays to all! I hope to see you at the next meeting/Christmas Party.
Sincerely,
Arthur Pawlowski
President

NOVEMBER MEETING by Julie Narcovich
Novembers meeting was fantastic!! I would like to start off by welcoming our three newest members, Jim and Jade Sullivan and Mark Thatcher. Yes he is David's brother. All three new members brought in some wonderful bottles from their collection!!!
We had the honor of having Mrs. Mary Frances Bush and Mr. Bob Bush to do an exciting presentation on Matchbooks. Mary Frances and Bob of Bristol, RI, have been collecting matchbook covers for over 50 years and just about 10 years ago, they found out there was a club for people who collect matchbook covers. They are very active in the hobby and belong to the Rathcamp Match cover Society as well as the New England Match cover Club and the Connecticut Match cover Club. They exhibit at shows and often win for their exhibits. In 200, Mary Frances won Best of Show at a convention held in Pittsburg for a panel of hotel match covers. Bob and Mary Frances especially enjoy collecting match covers with a Rhode Island connection.
Bob and Mary Frances are also active in the Rhode Island Post Card Club. Bob was President of the club for a number of years and both set up at almost every meeting of the club and handle the post card exhibit panels at the clubs annual October show.
At our meeting Mary Frances and Bob brought in a nice variety of match covers. They had round match holders, flat ones, square ones, rectangles, you name it. They together have collected over 80,000 match covers!!! Over 5000 of the match covers are from Rhode Island. My favorite display was the 'Portuguese Hippies'. We learned of many different kinds and styles of match covers, such as, rainbow (iridescent look), contour (has shape), display (a stand up display of many things), spot striker (a place on the front of the cover involved in the picture), amongst many, many more! Salem cigarettes did a match cover for each zodiac sign. Accept for…..cancer. Thank you Bob and Mary Frances for your presentation. We all learned a great deal and your collection was just tremendous to look at.
Our meeting began at 9pm. There were 18 people present, including our president, librarian and our newsletter editor/secretary(me). We voted on when and where to have our Christmas Party and Decembers meeting. A unanimous vote of the party and the meeting to be held at the same time. So, our Annual Christmas Party and December's meeting will be held at the Royal Buffet. We have the private room at the ROYAL BUFFET, (This is a Chinese, American, Italian & Japanese Restaurant) 272 Garfield Avenue, Cranston, R.I. (BREWERY PARKADE, ACROSS FROM LOWES). This is the old Narragansett Brewery site. December 10th at 7 P.M. The club will be paying for the meal, and we will have to pay for our own beer and alcoholic beverages. RSVP- by December 8th contact Pam @ 401-647-3585.
We had a show and tell at the end of our meeting. Bob Lanpher, Jim & Jade Sullivan, Mark Bryant, Mark Thatcher, Bill Rose, Art Pawlowski and Myself all brought in our fabulous finds to show and tell about. Our meeting came to an end a bit past 9:30. Thanks for staying and I know everyone had a great time.

A LETTER FROM OUR NEWSLETTER EDITOR by Julie Narcovich
Hello. I hope everyone is enjoying 2002 as best we can!! Thanksgiving and the holidays are coming up and you know what that means…FOOD=WEIGHT GAIN!! Make sure you stuff yourself with bottles instead of a lot of fattening foods. Has anyone gone to visit Bobarino's bottle collection that I had mentioned a couple newsletters back? It is still there in Warren and it is still very nice to see. While you're in Warren, check out all the fantastic antique stores throughout the local area there.
I am so glad to see a better turnout at November's meeting. We all had a great time and there was a lot of yummies and drinks. Pam brought some nice antique looking soda bottles, but they were new, so we drank it. Yes I did bring fruit. Why is that so odd? Don't worry, the angel food cake didn't go to waste. My boys ate it! I did miss not having some yummy EGGROLlS. You know who you are!!!!
I have a few letters coming soon that I will put in next months newsletter. They are from bottle club members who want to share there bottling stories. If you would like to as well, email me or snail mail me. I will be more than happy to put it here. Oh yeah, if you have not already found out, your current link to LITTLERHODYBOTTLECLUB.COM is no longer good. Our new site address is LITTLERHODYBOTTLECLUB.ORG
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and I cannot wait to see you all at the Christmas Party. Remember food and soda is on the club so RSVP to Pam by December 8, 2002.
Thank you,
Julie Narcovich
Editor/Secretary

IN MEMORY OF RUTH TILLY by Julie Narcovich
IT IS WITH DEEP SADNESS THAT WE REPORT THE LOSS OF RUTH TILLY OF EAST GREENWICH. RUTH DIED A FEW WEEKS AGO AFTER A LONG AND ACTIVE LIFE. SHE WAS A LONG-STANDING AND CHARTER MEMBER OF THE LITTLE RHODY BOTTLE CLUB. IN FACT, THE VERY FIRST MEETING OF THE CLUB WAS HELD AT HER HOME. OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY IS EXTENDED TO HER FAMILY.

Please take a look and see what you think. The forums are incredibly versatile and could, over time, become a wonderful resource for our hobby. Please help get this project off the ground and if you have any suggestions or ideas for improving the forums please email me or post a message on the 'Using the Forum, Suggestions' thread. Ideas for new threads or moderators especially welcome.
