June Meeting
It was a very hot night when the June meeting of the LRBC convened. There was a very small crowd possibly because of the high temperature outside, but inside it was cool and pleasant. Steve said it was the first time the a/c had ever been on at one of the meetings.

There were only six attendees when Steve called the meeting to order but another eight to ten people filed in during the first half hour. We saw some new faces and several we hadn't seen in a while. Jan Boyer was able to come to the meeting as was Dave Andrews. There were also a couple of visitors, Mr. and Mrs. Pizzi. They brought in a box of miscellaneous bottles and I believe Jan was able to purchase a ginger beer from them.

Jan also brought in several Hero Fruit Jars and a nice half gallon refrigerator bottle with a paper label. The contents were vanilla beans.

There was a suggestion that some of our members who collect milk bottles should get together and compile a list of all known RI milks. Milks were not included in Antique Bottles Of Rhode Island. Because of the shear quantity of these bottles it was felt that they deserved a reference of their own. Stay tuned for more information.

Correction
In the June Punty Rod it was reported that Pearl had brought in a Sandwich vase to the May meeting on "Sandwich Glass." What Pearl brought in was what is called a "spillover". The spillover was used to hold sticks next to the fireplace. The sticks were lit and carried around to light candles or lanterns.

FYI
A previously unknown Rhode Island bottle was sold on eBay which is an online auction house. The bottle is embossed PIERCE & CO. / INDIAN LINIMENT (front) / THE GREAT (side) / RHEUMATIC / REMEDY (reverse) / PROVIDENCE, R.I. (opposite side). The bottle is 6" tall, clear with a gray tint, and is rectangular shape with sunken panels on all four sides. The embossing is very bold while the bottle itself is very crude looking. The only thing wrong with it was a 1/16" shallow flake off of the tooled lip, otherwise it was perfect. The hammer price? How about $69.90 not including shipping and handling! Dave Andrews went high but was bumped in the last minutes of the auction. Anyone got one of these for sale? He's interested.

And in a related note, Steve Bergquist has the paper box for this bottle! He found it in the third floor of a house several years ago and kept it. Anyone need a box?
