Club News

May Meeting
Thirteen members attended. Rob Fahey brought up discussion on the club's domain name and everyone agreed it should be www.littlerhodybottleclub.org which seems a little long but that's okay. Dave Andrews is working on that project. Pam spoke with him and he said he was having a tough time getting through to register online. He called the 800 number and still wasn't able to get through but will keep at it until he's successful.

New Member Recruitment
There will be a questionnaire in this month's Punty Rod. It will ask some pretty simple questions. If you would fill it out and mail it to Pam, we will be able to figure out what to do to attract more members and get the current membership to attend the meetings. There appears to be much interest in having a satellite meeting for the Eastern Massachusetts members once a month but we still have to figure out how many people it would affect and where it would be located.

Refreshments
Thank you to all who who brought food for the meeting: Rob, Pam, Pearl, and Art, who brought the cream for the coffee.

The Presentation
New Prez Art Pawlowski gave a brief presentation on Flasks. He brought in quite a few from his collection including cornucopias, strap sides, replicas, and commemoratives. The was a nice amber ribbed flask, which was very pretty cool. Art bought it for Pam on eBay. He also had a concentric ring eagle flask, which, although it is a replica, is still pretty valuable because there weren't that many of them made. It is numbered and has the box and papers, another great yard sale find! Some of Art's flasks were dug, some found at flea markets and yard sales.
Pearl Joubert brought in a nice olive green cornucopia flask along with a beautiful Keene Masonic flask. She showed them with a couple of very nice stands that someone made for her to hold them.
Rob Fahey also brought in some flasks. He had a number of strap sides, including aqua, amber, and apple green. He also brought in some other things he found while digging. There was a nice little crock and some frags from pontilled bottles. He also brought in some small pontils he purchased at the Swanzey, NH show.

FYI
The Keene show will not be held in the high school gym as it had been for, well, just about ever. This year, Creighton Hall and company have moved the whole exhibition to a new location at the Keene State College Gymnasium. Space will more abundant and the table size will grow from six feet to eight feet. The gym supposedly has good lighting and plenty of parking. As soon as the details are available, we'll let you know more.

Providence Bitters At Auction
In the Glass Works Auction #56 featuring the Dr. Burton Spiller collection, a DAVID ANDREWS VEGETABLE JAUNDICE BITTERS went for a whopping $2300.00!!!! Reaction from Dave Andrews? "Unless there was something special about that particular bottle, they are worth about $750-1000. Of course, I'm a cheap Rhode Islander with no money so my opinion is worth squat."
