Club News

February Meeting
If you missed last month's meeting you missed a great program and slide show on Scuba Diving and Artifacts presented by John Stanford. John brought in a number of different items, including a couple of bottles, that he's found while diving on old wrecks. The second half of the program consisted of slides he took of different wrecks off the coast of southern New England including the German U-boat that was sunk off of the RI coast at the end of WWII.
If you weren't at the meeting you should have been. John's program was very interesting and informative. Nobody nodded off during this one which is always a good sign. If you are interested in checking out the dive club website that John belongs to, keep an eye on our Dealers, Collectors, & Sites Of Interest page for the link to their piece of the web.
Thanks to John for an interesting evening and we hope he'll come back for a visit!

New Members
We would like to welcome two new members to the club, Bill Rose from Raynam, MA and Tom Ross from Cranston. Glad to have both of you aboard and we hope you will try your best to attend the meetings. It's not as bad as you've heard..... unless Dave Andrews is there. We're sure you've heard the stories.

Bottle Book Update by Dave Andrews
I have been in the process of going through my RI bottles and dragging them out of the basement to photograph them. The pictures will appear in the online book as a visual aid for identification and can be accessed by clicking on the word "photo" that can be found in the listing for that particular bottle. Some of the bottles I have are not in the best condition so if you have an example that's in better shape I'd like to photograph it and use that picture instead. Please send me a note at dandrews@littlerhodybottleclub.com and let me know what you have and make arrangements to get together. Also, if you have a bottle that is listed but doesn't have a photo already, I'd like to snap a few flicks of those, too. Send me an email.
Thanks to Arthur and Pam Pawlowski for letting me photograph some of their RI bottles that weren't already online, including the Centredale Mineral Water bottle that Art picked up at the show. There is a report on that in the New Finds 14 along with my Top Ten list of favorite RI soda/beer/mineral water bottles that ought to stir up some crap.

Coming Up In April
A couple of things related to the upcoming April meeting.
April is typically the month we hold club elections and this year is no different. There are several important spots open that must be filled. First, the President's position will be vacant as Arthur has other commitments that will prevent him from continuing in that position. The club is also in dire need of a librarian. We've had several short term replacements ever since Pearl Joubert retired but nobody has been able to stay on in a more permanent type capacity. This is not a hard or demanding job but the person who takes it should be able to attend all of the meetings.
Other open positions are for Vice President and Program Directors as well as several people to make up a Show Committee.

Final Reminder - DUES by Pam Pawlowski
If you haven't paid your dues and don't, how can I send you a newsletter? I won't! Dues were due in January and if you haven't paid yet, then this will be the last month you receive a printed Punty Rod. Being a member also allows you first choice for tables at the show (we had several new members join just to take advantage of that benefit). The $10 per year isn't a lot so please send in and renew while it's fresh in your mind. Dues can be paid at the meeting or mailed to: Pam Pawlowski, PO Box 314, Hope, RI 02831-0314
