September Meeting
The attending members got right down to business during the first meeting after the summer break.
The first topic on the agenda was one which has been hot for several years: to allow early entry at the show or not? Many points were debated, pros and cons to the idea, and in the end it was voted that early entry be allowed at our upcoming January 2002 show.
The first thing to be discussed was whether to allow it at all. We are one of the few remaining shows that didn't allow early buyers. Times change and feelings were it was time we conformed to what has become an accepted practice.
The second point was what time would early buyers be allowed? It was decided rather quickly that 9:00 would be a good time. Dealer set up is from 8:00 to 10:00 and that would give the dealers at least an hour to do their thing.
Then came the question of what to charge for early admission. This actually proved to be the hardest point to decide on. Some said it should be the price of a table ($20.00). Others felt half of that would be fair. And after much debate, it was decided to split the difference and charge $15.00 per early admission.
The final point was how to keep track of early buyers. The decision was made to have ID tags made up that every early buyer would have to wear.
Regardless of what the members decided, there are going to be people complaining about one thing or another. This will be the test year and any problems will have to be noted and corrected for the next year's show. I guess we'll see how it goes.

LRBC Show & Sale - January 13, 2002
Contracts for our show in January will be included with the upcoming printed newsletter. If interested in setting up at the show, fill out and send in the contract immediately. DO NOT ASSUME YOU WILL GET A TABLE BECAUSE YOU ARE A MEMBER OR HAD A TABLE LAST YEAR. Tables are offered to club members first but you must reserve and do it quickly as all tables are sold out within a month's time.
If you have a special preference as to where you'd like to be set up, please let Arthur know when you make your reservations.
A new show flyer has been made up and printed. They debuted at the Chelmsford show and will be distributed at the Keene show and placed in antique shops and consignment shops around the area. A copy will be included in next month's newsletter. For online info go to the Show Flyer page.
We will also be acquiring the Antique Bottle & Glass Collector Magazine show promotion package again this year. Ads in the magazine and a ribbon to be awarded at the show are just a couple of benefits.

Website News
Littlerhodybottleclub.com is progressing along rather nicely! Our average daily visitor count for the last week of September was 74. Not too shabby for word of mouth promotion. The best day we had came in August when the high count was 129 individual vistors in one day. The site isn't even a year old yet and the total number of individual vistors to the site since inception is over 14,000. Sweet.

A Rumford Club? by Dave Andrews
Over the summer I've had a number of people from different parts of the country contact me asking if there was a dedicated website for collectors of Rumford Chemical Works items. Right now there is no such site that I'm aware of. The bug was planted when a couple of people asked if I would develope the site but there needs to be enough interest to warrant the undertaking The site would be a place for gathering and sharing of information, displaying collections and new finds, selling and trading of Rumford only items, and pretty much anything else Rumford related.
What do you think? Because we live in the state that gave birth to the Rumford Chemical works and, because it was this club who chose the teal Rumford bottle as the unofficial state bottle diplayed in the National Bottle Museum in NY, would such a site be beneficial to the collectors interested in the company?
I need your feedback on this. Do you or don't you think a site would be a good idea? Send me an email at oaklawn@earthlink.net and put in your two cents.
