Ambrose Morse was a druggist who claimed to be the original inventor and proprietor of the Yellow Dock, Dandelions and Sarsaparilla Compound Syrup. He was located at Morse's Depot, 42 Westminster St. in Providence in 1850. The syrup was warranted to be superior to any other syrup in the USA for the cure of canker, erysipelas, salt rheum, syphilitis symptoms, pain in the bones and joints, scald head, ringworm, sore eyes, blotches, cutaneus eruptions, scrofula or King's Fever, St. Anthony's Fire, pimples on the face and impurities of the blood. It was also for all chronic diseases like rheumatism, liver complaint, palpitation of the heart, biliousness and costiveness. Morse also put out the Great American Balsam, which he claimed would cure even the most aggravated cases of piles, and another preparation called Eau Lustrale, which was a hair restorative and preservative. Morse's Depot sold everything from brushes, perfumes, and soaps to patent medicines, spices, cigars, and extracts. Morse moved several times throughout his short career and his last place of business was located at 213 Westminster St. in 1856 when he retired. |
