Henry Alfreds

Henry J. Alfreds was a registered pharmacist in 1875, located at 979 Eddy St. in Providence, R.I.

By 1884 he had a couple of stores in operation at 811 Eddy St. and at 164 Thurbers Ave. Perfumes, oils, paints, wines and liquors (for medicinal use), as well as patent medicines and drugs were among the items Alfreds dealt in.

Shortly after 1886, Alfreds opened up a third store located at 145 Prairie Ave. where he began manufacturing Royal Bouquet, "..... a delicate and lasting extract for the handkerchief."

One year later he was manufacturing Alfreds' Cough & Lung Balm and Alfreds' Sarsaparilla Compound for diseases of the blood.

Henry Alfreds died in 1894, and in 1895 his company was taken over and reopened under the name of Alfreds' Pharmacy, Isaac J. Alfreds & Son, Proprietors.
