Joshua B. Chapin was a physician located at 20 Arnold St. in Providence in 1841. In 1844 he joined with George Thurber who was an apothecary located at 79 Westminister St. also in Providence. Together they became Chapin & Thurber Druggists & Apothecaries and were located at the Westminister St. address.

By 1857 they had moved to 31 Market St. as wholesale and retail druggists.

By 1863 they were out of business.
