The Hand Brewing Co. was
located at Freeman and Central Avenues in Pawtucket
in 1899. It was owned and operated by Michael Hand,
Sr. who resided in Scranton, PA, and by Michael Jr.
who lived at 161 Cottage Street in
Pawtucket.
In 1907 Francis Gavin joined
the company as manager of the bottling
department.
Michael Sr. passed away in
1911 leaving Michael Jr. to run the brewery until
his own death in 1915. A year later Gavin retired
from the business leaving Mrs. Annie E. Hand to run
the brewery as president and treasurer.
The company was in business
for just over twenty-five years, closing in
1925.
