Henry G. Hough was a
physician who lived at 82 Square Street, off of
Allens Avenue, in Providence circa 1872. By 1874 he
had moved to the corner of Division and Hammond
Streets, and in 1880 moved in residence with Henry
J. Hough (probably a son) at 851 High
Street.
In 1882 he became partners
with Henry J. who was a druggist at 1029 High
Street. Henry G. put out his own Dr. Hough's Cough
& Lung Balsam and an Anti Scrofula medicine.
Scrofula is a tubercular condition of the lymphatic
glands and was also called 'the king's evil' at the
time.
Dr. Hough passed away in
1885.
