Fred
Lothrop
|
|
Frederick L. Lothrop was a
registered pharmacist located at 555 Eddy Street in
Providence in 1884. Several years later he had
another store in operation at 73 Westminister
Street. Besides dealing in the usual patent
medicines, he manufactured his own LOTHROP'S COUGH
ELIXIR, a FRAGRANT TOOTH POWDER, and his own brand
of IMPROVED MANDRAKE PILLS.

|
About 1899, he had several
pharmacies in operation at 116 Broadway, 199
Westminister, and 92 Chestnut Street all in
Providence.

For some unknown reason,
Lothrop quit operating in Rhode Island in 1900 and
moved to Boston. A few years later, Lothrop
returned to Providence and opened up another shop.
However, he only remained here for about a year
before packing up again and once more returning to
Boston.
