Edwin B. Steere was a beer
manufacturer at 32 Harkness Street in Providence in
1885. By 1890, he became a bottler at 938 High
Street which was also his residence. Steere took in
a partner, Fred Biggs, and the company became the
Olneyville Mineral Water Company.
In 1893, Steere became sole
owner of the company and began manufacturing soda
water and hop beer at 1768 Westminister Street. By
1901 he was located at Odd Fellows Square at the
junction of Plainfield Street and Pocasset Avenue
in Olneyville also dealing in wood and coal. In
1902 he gave up the bottling business but continued
selling coal.
