Sometime in the later 1800's
he had moved to East Greenwich on Castle St. near
Long St. There he ran a variety store for a short
period of time, during which he put out his own
extracts and a Peruvian King Bitters. The bitters
were warranted to cure all bilious, dyspeptic, and
chronic complaints. He further enhanced the sales
of his product by putting them up in fancy quart
bottles as stated in an ad in a 1870 Providence
Directory.
By 1883 he was boarding at 28
Marlborough St. in Newport.
