Sullivan Bros.

Daniel J. Sullivan and John F. Sullivan were bottlers and dealers in liquors, wines, and mineral waters in 1881. Their business was located at 376 Wickendon Streeet in Providence.

In 1888, they were bottling tonic beer, sarsaparilla, birch beer, lemon soda, and ginger ale and were listed as being in business at 378 Wickendon Street under the company name The Sullivan Bros. Steam Bottling Works.

By 1892 they had moved up the street to 398 Wickendon and were also located at 1 Schofield Street and 62 Ives Street which were also in Providence. Here they were manufacturing, wholesaling, and bottling porter, ale, and lager beers including the Famous Narragansett lager.

Circa 1897, the company became known as The Five Sullivan Bros. with Daniel J., John F., Timothy J., Dennis R., and Eugene D. as partners. They had an office, salesroom, and factory at 577 Wickenden Street and were listed as wholesale dealers of liquors and bottlers of lager beer and mineral waters. They also had a wholesale liquor branch in East Providence at 9 Warren Avenue.

By 1918 the Sullivan Bros. were no longer in business.

This company is one of only a half dozen bottling companies in Rhode Island which used the Hutchinson type bottle to hold some of their products.
